A free icon editor for Mac

Draw small. Miss nothing.

Inkwell is vector first, native and quiet. No account, no email, no tracking. It also has a few tricks up its sleeve. We're not saying which.

Watch the bar. Did you see that?

Try it

Sixteen pixels. Make something.

A working scrap of the pencil. Press and drag. Pick a color, or the eraser.

Nice. That was the easy part.
Press and drag to draw

Drawing is the part every editor gets right. Inkwell is about everything that happens around it.

The part you can say out loud.

And it's not a short list.

Free, plainly

No subscription, no trial clock, no "free" that turns into a form. Download it and draw.

No email. Ever.

There is no sign-in because there is nothing to sign in to. Not to download, not to open, not to save.

Native, all the way

Built on the frameworks already on every Mac. No browser inside it, no runtime to wait for. It opens when you do.

Vector first

Shapes, paths and text that stay sharp at any size. Open and save SVG. Export PNG. Reach for pixels when a detail needs them.

Dark mode, done right

Not a dark skin. Every surface, every control and every message follows your Mac, light or dark, the moment it changes.

Quiet

No beeps. No nagging to update. Messages show up in the window, where you're already looking, and ask before anything is lost.

Soon

A few things we're
not telling you about yet.

Rest on one. It'll come a little closer. Not much.

Fair questions.

Is Inkwell free?

Yes. No subscription, no trial clock, no account.

Do I have to give you my email?

No. Not to download it, not to open it, not to use it. There is no sign-in anywhere in the app.

Does it phone home?

No. There is no telemetry and no analytics in the app. It can't tell us what you draw, how long you draw it or whether you draw at all.

Is it vector, pixels, or both?

Vector first: shapes, paths and text that stay sharp at any size. When a detail needs to be placed pixel by pixel, the pencil is there too, in the same file.

What can it open and save?

SVG and PNG. You can also paste from the clipboard, including a screenshot slice.

Who is it for?

Anyone who draws things that have to survive being small: icons, favicons, app tiles, glyphs, stickers.

So what are you hiding?

Soon.

What Mac do I need?

A Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later.

What's coming next?

Soon.
